Members of the Waumini Sacco have joined thousands of Kenyans in rallying behind children battling heart‑related illnesses by participating in the Mater Heart Run 2026.
The Sacco’s delegation, comprising its Board of Directors and staff from headquarters and regional branches in Nakuru, Mombasa, and Kisumu, took part in the nationwide charity event staged across multiple venues, including the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Loreto Convent Mombasa, Lions High School Kisumu, and the Nakuru Athletics Club
The annual Mater Heart Run has grown into one of Kenya’s most impactful fundraising initiatives, channelling resources toward life‑saving cardiac surgeries and treatment for children from disadvantaged backgrounds at Mater Hospital.

This year’s edition, held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, once again drew individuals, organisations, and communities into a united mission of giving hope and a second chance at life to vulnerable children.
The Mater Heart Run has become more than an annual charity event; it has now expanded into a nationwide movement held across eleven towns, among them Machakos, Kakamega, Eldoret, Nyeri, Kericho, Bomet, and Kirinyaga. The run has become a unifying tradition that brings communities together across Kenya in support of children in need of cardiac care.
