Yetu DT Sacco has unveiled an ambitious five‑year expansion strategy aimed at transforming the cooperative into a KSh20 billion institution through infrastructure upgrades, digital innovation and community‑driven investments.

The plan was announced recently during a Special General Meeting held at the Yetu Pamoja Investment Park in Nkubu, South Imenti constituency.

Chief Executive Officer Dennis Kirimi said the Sacco is entering a new phase of growth, anchored on improved service delivery and stronger operational capacity. He confirmed that the Sacco’s new multi‑million‑shilling headquarters will be completed and handed over by the end of the month. “The new building will enhance customer experience, increase operational efficiency and position the Sacco for the next level of growth,” Kirimi said.

Kirimi added that Yetu DT Sacco has fully upgraded its digital infrastructure, allowing members to transact, apply for loans and manage their accounts remotely. He said the shift places the Sacco among cooperatives embracing technology to reduce queues, cut paperwork and expand financial inclusion across rural and urban areas.

As part of its long‑term social investment agenda, the SACCO has established Pamoja Technical College to equip young people with market‑ready technical skills. Kirimi said the institution is expected to uplift livelihoods through training, innovation and job creation. “Investing in education strengthens the community that our members come from. When the community grows, the Sacco grows with it,” he said.

Sacco chairman Mark Gitonga announced that members will now be eligible for dividend advances, enabling them to access a portion of their annual earnings ahead of the official payout. He said the facility is intended to give members financial flexibility when faced with urgent needs.

The meeting was attended by Meru County CECM for Trade, Tourism and Cooperatives, Rev. Caroline Kaberia, accompanied by the Director of Cooperatives, Zachary Njeru. Rev. Kaberia reaffirmed the county government’s support for the cooperative movement, describing Saccos as key drivers of local economic transformation.

Kaberia commended Yetu DT Sacco for promoting financial inclusion and supporting small businesses, noting that cooperatives contribute more than 80 per cent of growth within the sector.
