Cosmopolitan Sacco voted best managed in Nakuru County

33 cooperative societies in Nakuru County were awarded for their big contribution to the cooperative movement during a colourful Ushirika Day celebrations in Kunste Hotel in Nakuru City.

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyajui who was the chief guest thanked all Cooperatives for their resilience even in the hard economic times engineered by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cosmopolitan DT Sacco was awarded as the Overall Best Managed Sacco, followed by Panda Sacco. Elburgon Progressive Dairy Cooperative Society Limited was third overall in the same category.

Ukombozi Sacco was the best managed Large Sacco followed by Egerton and Kabarak University Saccos as the second and third best managed large Saccos respectively.

The medium category Saccos were led by Sawu Sacco as the best managed, followed by Shalimar and  Delemare Saccos.

Nayopo Sacco led the category of small sized-Saccos as the best managed as Asante Sacco became the second best managed while CCI Sacco was third in this category.

The transport sector Saccos were led by 3NTO Sacco, followed by 209 Maruti United Sacco while 3N Sacco was the third best managed.

Egerton Cosmopolitan Housing Cooperative Society Limited topped in the housing category followed by Tuinuane Housing Cooperative Society, while Vision Africa Housing Cooperative Society Limited was the third best managed.

Farmers’ Cooperative Societies were led by Suka Farmers Cooperative Society Limited followed by Kuresoi Farmers Cooperative Society Limited and Soitaran MPCS Limited as the best managed Saccos.

Tayari Sacco was the best managed women cooperative society followed by Milele Sacco and Nakuru North Women Sacco as second and third best managed respectively.

In the Youth Sacco category, Lake Naivasha Youth Sacco was the best managed while Gilgil Elmbama Sacco became second as Njoro Huduma Sacco was third.

Mutungati Farmers Cooperative society Limited was the best managed coffee cooperative society, while Sumat Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited was the best managed multipurpose Cooperative society.

Other Cooperative societies which received awards were Starlight Farmers Cooperative Society, which was the best managed potato cooperative society, ACK Talent Emmanuel Sacco was the best in the Most Improved category, and Rongai Acacia Dairy Cooperative Society Limited was the best dairy Cooperative in diversification. E20 Sacco was the best Sacco in loan recovery.

Other dignitaries who attend the event were Nakuru Cooperative CECM Fransis Mwangi, Nakuru Director of Cooperatives Josphine Ngandu, Rift Valley KUSSCO Regional Manager Stephene Makori, and Dr. John Njenga from Strathmore University.

Others were CIC and Cooperative Bank representatives, Cosmopolitan Chairperson John Muigai, and officials from the cooperative sector in the region.
