Kibabii University invites Saccos to its digital hosting platform

Bungoma County Saccos have been urged to fast track the implementation and use of digital infrastructure by accepting to be hosted by Kibabii University Cooperative Society (KUCS), which has procured a large platform.

Addressing officials and members drawn from various Societies from Bungoma South Sub-county at Posta grounds during the international Cooperatives day celebrations, Mr Amos Nyongesa of KUCS noted that digital systems will aid members monitor their savings and easily access different loan products from their Saccos.

“Our Sacco is fully digital after acquisition of an international data server from Germany. We can partner with other Sacco’s by hosting them at a very affordable fee,” he said.

On his part, the Bungoma County KUSSCO representative Alex Khaemba noted that the national government was keen to ensure training, mentorship and even financial assistance are extended to the Saccos.

Mr Khaemba called upon all Saccos to register with KUSSCO so as to secure members savings.

The chief guest Mr Peter Songok, Bungoma Cooperative Bank Relationship Manager, noted that since the bank is the custodian of Saccos’ finances, they will continue giving them all the needed financial support to stay afloat in the market.

According to Mr Songok, Cooperative Bank started like a Sacco, hence their strong attachment and willingness to invest more in the sector to uplift the living and economic standards of Kenyans through acquisition of more low interest loans with long term repayment plans.

During the celebrations, Ng’arisha Sacco was awarded the Best Overall Sacco while Musikoma Rural Sacco was feted as the best in the Public Award category.

Other Saccos which received recognition include Magharibi Farmers Sacco, Bungoma Matatu Employees Sacco, Macco Sacco , Kibabii University Sacco and Women of Vella Sacco.
