Lamu County Cooperative director, Paul Thauri has revealed that five dormant Cooperative societies in the County are set for revival to cater for the financial need for the local and spur development.
Speaking to Sacco Review from Lamu town recently, Thauri said that the trend will enable county residents to join the Cooperatives in large numbers, hence invest heavily for better results at the end of transaction period.
He further advised those county residents who have not joined Cooperative societies in the region to do so immediately and invest appropriately so that they can get bigger loans at the end of the transaction to accomplish their personal development projects and transform their lives.
“Many people in the country have managed to implement their personal development projects through taking loans from their respect Saccos,” noted Thauri.

Additionally, he urged Saccos in the region to embrace Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance efficiency in service delivery to members and the general public, further appealing that a high degree of good leadership and governance should be adopted for effective operations.
“You are therefore duty bound in conducting Education Training to members to enable them to know exactly what is happening in their respective Saccos”, Thauri said.
At the same time, he advised Sacco members to borrow loans wisely from their Saccos and pay promptly to enable others to benefit from the same loan products, warning that defaulting only retard the growth of Saccos.
He called for unity among Sacco members saying that there is effort in unity of purpose which will enable members to achieve more.
